The New York Financial Writers’ Association offers a number of scholarships to undergraduate or graduate journalism students in the Metropolitan New York area who are seriously interested in pursuing a career in business and financial journalism.  

Applicants should follow these directions:

  1. Complete application providing your present address and telephone number and, if different, your permanent home address and telephone number. Applications should be available at your department. If you do not have access to an application, simply send a cover letter with the information.
  2. Send an essay explaining why you are pursuing a career in business and financial journalism.
  3. Include a current resume, relevant personal information, and list any other scholarships you have received.
  4. Send samples of your financial writing and clippings.

Legatum Fellowship Program at M.I.T.

MIT and the Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship are pleased to introduce its fellowship program for aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to develop innovative businesses that will promote prosperity in the developing world. The program is open to incoming and current MIT graduate students, across all academic and professional disciplines. The fellowship provides financial assistance, business plan coaching, specialized seminars, and opportunities to engage with some of the world’s leading thinkers and change-agents.

This program will interest students who might be exploring the possibility of graduate school at MIT and have an interest in entrepreneurship and international development.

Also, on Wednesday November 19, 2008 MIT will be hosting an information session about the fellowship.  This will be a great opportunity for interested applicants to meet with current fellows and learn more about the fellowship experience.  The session will run from 12-1:30 p.m. in the Mezzanine Lounge on the 3rd floor of the MIT Stratton Student Center (Building W20).  Lunch will be provided.

ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship

ThinkSwiss will select 15 talented and motivated U.S. students from all fields of study who apply for a research project at a Swiss university or research lab. The awardees will receive a monthly stipend of $700 for a period of up to three months.
The ThinkSwiss Research Scholarship program takes place within the scope of the ThinkSwiss program. “ThinkSwiss – Brainstorm the future” is a U.S.-wide program on Education, Research and Innovation. It focuses on the exchange of expertise and know–how in academia and the business community in both Switzerland and the USA. USGA Fellowship in Leadership & Service

The Fellowship is a two-year commitment serving as a member of the United States Golf Association’s Grants and Fellowship Staff, an organization whose mission is to support organizations that seek to open the game of golf to children who are economically-disadvantaged and individuals with disabilities. The program targets individuals seeking full-time, paid positions, as well as post-graduate fellowships in the areas of sports, public service, the not-for-profit sector, finance, and business.

The Madison and Lila Self Fellowship is available at the University of Kansas to individuals who intend to pursue a doctorate in biological and biomedical sciences, business, economics, engineering, mathematics, pharmaceutical and physical sciences. This highly selective four-year fellowship offers an annual payment to cover full tuition and fees, and provides a unique professional development program. The total value of this four-year fellowship exceeds $160,000.
